The Gospel

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Psalm 37:4

Title: Delight yourself in the Lord

God will never grant us our every whim and fancy, or even when we desire something for religious purposes, for that would create havoc rather than order. The Lord is very specific in what He would grant us, and what we should ask for in our entreating Him in prayer, and always, always, subject to His will.

What the man desired here were his family’s daily sustenance, good moral character for his children, the salvation of the righteous, and deliverance from the wicked. And the promise was that if he would seek these only from the Lord, that the same would be awarded him, as he trusts in God despite being oppressed by evil men.
