The Gospel

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Matthew 27:42

Title: He saved others

The Lord Jesus went to the cross, not to save but to glorify himself. His running order was not to escape but to conquer death and to sit at the right hand of the Father.

The offense of sin and the sting of death made Calvary necessary; and for the Son of God to circumvent the torture of crucifixion would have been an affirmation of defeat rather than a demonstration of majestic power.

Galatians 3:19

Title: It was added because of transgressions

Knowing what sin is, that it enslaves, did not prevent us from being prisoners of it. In fact, we demanded the right to sin by naming it “freedom,” or the entitlement to self-determination based on the expediency of pleasure. Instead of protecting ourselves from its influence, we have developed a system of government, education, leisure, and entertainment that promotes it (sin) against the liberty that comes from faith in the Lord Jesus, by whom and without restraint we might receive the promise of righteousness and eternal life.
