The Gospel

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

John 14:5

Title: We don’t know where you are going

The disciples were setting the Lord Jesus within the sphere of their small world, and they were consigning spiritual locations into measurable distances and localities. They figured out that all they needed was to know the specific destination, and it would be easy finding the shortest way to reach it.

When confronted with spiritual truths, we tend to contain them into manageable pieces of information, as we perceive them within our recognized maturity and exposure to Biblical preaching. The disciples were clearly ignorant of heavenly things in spite of the exposure they had to the teachings and miracles of the Son of God, as evidenced by their earth-bound reaction to a glorious heavenly declaration.
