The Gospel

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Luke 19:10

Title: To seek and to save

The divinely-appointed purpose for the incarnation of God in the flesh is salvation from the penalty and power and, ultimately, the presence of sin, so the gospel message must be construed as purely spiritual and mainly indicative of eternity and doesn’t cater to fleeting physical advantages, namely prosperity, health, and a worry-free life.

To add guarantees of temporal well-being to the gospel is to incorporate an ephemeral dimension into that which is already perfect in spirit, thereby diminishing our view of sin, the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus, and even God himself.

Philippians 3:16

Title: Let us live up to what we have already attained

Spiritual maturity is best judged by our obedience to whatever biblical truth we possess, no matter how small or insignificant it may appear when compared to the voluminous scholarship of Biblical authorities, and not in the amount of inert spiritual knowledge we have committed to memory.

Matthew 24:38

Title: People were eating and drinking

Let us admit it, we simply have no time for God, for spiritual things and activities which would have led us to the knowledge of things to come.

We are guilty of living for our own good alone, and the consequence of our negligence and apathy toward the things of God have distorted our minds into believing that all would be well, that there would be no judgment coming upon the world and its inhabitants.

This life is not about us. It is about God and his plan and his will. If ever there is enjoyment and comfort in life it is because of God and for his glory.
