The Gospel

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Romans 13:12

Title:  The night is far spent

Nearest dawn, darkness is deepest.

The night, no matter how long in the timeline of God’s longsuffering patience, is almost over.  Punishment is assured for those who do not know the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and who do not obey the gospel of the Lord Jesus, the Christ, but to the Christian who reveres the name of the Lord Almighty, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings, to give comfort to those who now weep and mourn and suffer for righteousness’ sake.

Time is no longer of the essence since everything had been written and accomplished to appease the wrath of God on Calvary and so brought peace between the Lord and his people, while the sins of those who rebel against the divine rule of the Creator God have reached his hearing and his countenance.

Reward and punishment, these are at the doors.

John 3:29

Title: That joy is mine

Nothing is more exceedingly joyful than to fill our cup of service to the Lord without the pomp and tribute of praise, with no happy fairy-tale ending, where the curtain might even close upon a scene of tragic death.

The aspect of anonymity makes the task as personal as walking with the Lord to the place of sacrifice, where invariably his footsteps become our footsteps, and his joy becomes ours.

Proverbs 1:7

Title:  Beginning of knowledge

A loving reverence of the Lord is the primary element of knowledge; it is the first thing in knowledge.  It must be found at the beginning and at the end of the quest for understanding or man will remain morally deficient, unable to attain to wisdom.

Wisdom achieved by giving heed to God’s instructions and discipline glorifies the Lord Jesus because he is the wisdom of the Father.

The fool only has himself to exalt.
