The Gospel

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

2 Kings 13:14

Title:  Now Elisha was suffering from the illness from which he died

Christianity promises no immunity from afflictions common to man.  What God promises through Jesus, the Christ, is eternal life.  A Christian, therefore, will never die.  Do we really believe this blessed truth?

We are the soul and not the body.  We dwell in a tent that is wasting away and groaning with all creation, waiting eagerly for the renewal of all things.

As a result we must conduct ourselves as possessing immortality, in every situation, whatever happens, but with all humility because suffering is a privilege, a gift given only to the Christian on behalf of the Lord Jesus, and as a testimony to our worthiness to share in his glory.
