We move about
the days of April,
cautiously December-bound,
with no road signs
or road maps to guide us
in straight lines
or semicircles,
no sextant to aim at
the North star,
no footprints ahead of us
to follow,
only the need
to search out the world
for a world our own
before the day is done.
