The Gospel

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Genesis 2:16

Title: You are free to eat

Freedom is limited.

Because freedom of thought and action was bestowed upon us to lead us to the joy of fellowship with God, only thoughts and actions in obedience to God are allowed and are blessed with eternal significance. This doesn’t mean we can’t do otherwise; in fact we can, but that would be tantamount to rebellion, and rebellion would only prove that freedom, in principle and practicality, always points to submission to God’s rule.

Ecclesiastes 12:13

Title: The conclusion of the matter

Looking back, and in every human experience, no one would deny, come the termination of life, that the only life worth living was one dedicated to the praise and service of God.

To argue against this parameter positions the reason for life entirely to the service of self. Therefore the self becomes god, truth becomes relative, which was sure to follow, and morality is relegated to the backseat merely as an afterthought of no significant relevance.

Hebrews 11:1

Title: Faith

Faith is the synthesis of concrete evidence – which is verifiable in history, by archaeology, in human experience – and what has been promised and yet unseen.

Faith doesn’t bring us closer to the fulfillment of a promise or make the invisible visible; rather it makes the truth come alive in our hearts.

Matthew 6:11

Title: Our daily bread

The ultimate enjoyment of the simple pleasures of life, while at the same time nourishing the body, is in receiving it from the hand of God.

Every day dawns on mankind the actuality that its continued existence is dependent on elements outside itself. There is nothing intrinsic in us that could sustain life; everything comes from the outside.

And with the comprehension of the source as God, in thankfulness and dependence in prayer, our daily bread becomes for the soul as well, a sustenance of great value.
