Title: To seek and to save
The divinely-appointed purpose for the incarnation of God in the flesh is salvation from the penalty and power and, ultimately, the presence of sin, so the gospel message must be construed as purely spiritual and mainly indicative of eternity and doesn’t cater to fleeting physical advantages, namely prosperity, health, and a worry-free life.
To add guarantees of temporal well-being to the gospel is to incorporate an ephemeral dimension into that which is already perfect in spirit, thereby diminishing our view of sin, the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus, and even God himself.
